Heimgard
Heimgard is a small village in eastern Celdrock on the road between Feyloch and East Barath, on the other side of the forest from Bisruth and seven miles south of the Clearwater River. Its primary trade is as a rest-stop, offering an inn, tanner, wheelwright, blacksmith, and other services to travelers. It is a tight-knit community, with most residents having good knowledge of each other and its population changing neither size nor constitution much over time. It lacks a formal political system, with its only real civil servants being the mayor (Ronald Treynast), coroner (Eric Eludrid), and sheriff (Richard Tell).

Important people
- Mayor of Heimgard / Ronald Treynast - Ronald is the mayor of Heimgard. He inherited the role from his father Bertrand Treynast. He is in his late twenties, about 5' 6" and a slim build, with thin brown hair and hazel eyes. As mayor, he is in charge of organizing town events, making legal or judicial decisions, and solving any problems which arise. Ronald is incompetent and wholly incapable of performing these duties but projects a transparent sense of confidence and authority to attempt to fit his idea of a good mayor. This projection rarely stands up to scrutiny as Ronald is obsessed with being as beloved as his father and will quickly make any concession necessary to keep people happy. The villagers recognize Ronald's incompetence but no one bothers to replace him because the village functions just fine without strong leadership.
- Sheriff of Heimgard / Richard Tell - Richard is the sheriff of Heimgard. He is in his late 50s with short cut salt-and-pepper hair and blue eyes. Richard was appointed sheriff by Bertrand Treynast when he was 23 and held the position ever since. He speaks with a gruff voice and wears a constant scowl but has a very warm personality. He's fiercely protective of the members of his village and as such tends to be wary of all travelers passing through. For the past two months he has been battling an inexplicable illness which has left him bedridden most days. He continues to patrol the town when he can muster the strength to stand, against the pleas of Lilian Rice, the town doctor. He supports Ronald but wishes he was more assertive.
- Former Mayor / Bertrand Treynast - Bertrand is the father of Ronald Treynast and the previous mayor of Heimgard. As mayor he was beloved by his townsfolk. He abdicated his position several years ago when he was recruited by the premier to serve as her counsel.
- Coroner / Eric Eludrid - Eric is the coroner of Heimgard. He is a lightfoot halfling in his late twenties, about one year younger than Ronald. He is 3' 4" and keeps his auburn hair at shoulder length. As the coroner, Eric is tasked with managing taxes and expenditures, keeping records, and approving contracts, all of which he does admirably. Eric was born in Heimgard. His parents were traveling the road nearby when they were attacked by dire wolves. His father was killed and his mother was chased to the village entrance where she was protected by Richard Tell. Pregnant, widowed, and without her belongings, Eric's mother felt she had nowhere to go. Bertrand Treynast took her in, and soon after she delivered three children including Eric, who was named for his father. Young Eric and Ronald became dear friends, which they remain to this day. Eric is bright and well organized, but very shy.
- Blacksmith / Charles Tell - Charles is the local blacksmith and the younger brother of Richard Tell. He is in his early 60s and built like a mountain, with long white hair and blue eyes. He has two sons and a daughter, but both the sons have moved away to the city. The daughter, Rachel Tell, has remained and helps him run the shop. As he has grown older and his strength declines, he is doing less of the work, but is still the only one Carter Rickenfeld trusts to make custom parts. He is a jovial man with a hearty laughter and love for beer. His wife, Elizabeth Tell, is a human in her late 60s who works with Lilian Rice as a medical assistant.
- Blacksmith / Rachel Tell - Rachel is the daughter of Charles and niece of Sheriff Richard. She runs the blacksmith shop most days. She is in her late 30s, tall and extraordinarily strong for a woman, with dark brown hair she ties in a ponytail and brown eyes. Her hands and face are speckled with burn scars and her skin is always streaked with soot. She is a happy person but is resistant to excitation. As a child, she was full of energy and eagerly assisted her father at the forge, the source of all her scars. As she learned of the world outside Heimgard, she had dreams of adventure or meeting a handsome traveler that would whisk her away to soaring castles or bustling cities. When she became an adult, she abandoned the fantasies as childhood whimsy and now feels obligated to stay in the village and help her aging father run the shop. But as much as she tries to suppress it, that energy and lust for adventure remain.
- Farrier / George Moss - George Moss is the local farrier, tending to equine hoof care. He works out of Tell's Smithing.
- Doctor / Lilian Rice - Lilian is the resident doctor. She is a high elf, around 530 years old, with black hair, light brown skin, and amber eyes. She has lived in Heimgard for 120 years, ever since she fell in love with a resident whom she married. As a human, he grew old and died decades ago, but she remained. She enjoys the pace of the village, it's generational stories and history. She knows that she may leave one day, but for now she's content tending to their sick and aiding travelers. She is trained in light healing magic and medical treatment for most intelligent species. She is blunt and humorless, but she is good at her job and wants her patients to get better. Because of her time in the town, she knows more personal history and secrets than anyone else, but her distaste for gossip and chitchat makes it hard to receive this information from her. She spends most of her days tending to Sheriff Richard.
- Chaplain / Reverend Samuel Deckwolt - Samuel is the village chaplain. He is in his 70s, tall and lanky, with short white hair and green eyes. As chaplain, his primary duties are the upkeep of the village's chapel, running the cemetery, and providing spiritual guidance to those in need. He enjoys the academics and will read anything he can receive from travelers. This has made him the village's expert in history, art, and the sciences, though his expertise in some areas can be very narrow. He is a widower, his wife having passed three years ago. He is a pious and soft spoken man, genial to strangers but reclusive. Rather than drinking at the bar, he spends his evening walking the paths of the forest or deep in prayer at the chapel. He is non-judgmental of the irreligious or sinful, but will make repeated efforts to encourage people to act more righteously.
- Afternoon Barkeep / Adam Moss - Adam works the afternoon shift at the bar in Good Harvest Tavern. He's the son of George Moss. He's a young man,
- Tavern Owner / Joyce Highcastle - Joyce is the owner of the Good Harvest Tavern. She's a woman in her late fifties, with a rather rotund frame and greying brown hair. She's particularly kind towards adventurers, if she can come off as patronizing. Given the chance, she'll both give counsel and narrate her own adventures. A year ago, various villagers were kidnapped by the witch Julianna, her youngest son among them. The witch turned him into a wolf, and Joyce knows only as much about the rest.
- Alchemist / Belry Dryleaf Belry is the local alchemist and close friend of Carter Rickenfeld. He is a middle aged halfling, about 95 years old, with .
- General Store Owner / Carter Rickenfeld - Carter is the owner of the general store. He is a rock gnome around 410 years old, 3' tall to the inch with an extra foot of wild, unkempt white hair. He
